and corrected…Additionally, a row of changes and improvements was introduced
in the program algorithm. |

3.0.1.94
December 27, 2002

The error of access to the settings file on some machines (File
read error) was corrected. |
The English localization of the interface was edited. |
In comparison to the previous version, the code was significantly
reworked and optimized. |
| |
New functional features
Two synchronization types of the program work were introduced:
Launch according to the correct time
when a pause is launched exactly at the set time of the hour (in
the last 10 minutes in the 50/ 10 mode). Preferences of this type
are the following: it is easier for the organism to adjust itself
to an exact rhythm and tune itself on effective work during the hour
and high quality rest during breaks. |
Launch relative to the time of start
is a mode when the locking works after 50 (25, 100) minutes of work
relative to the start of the program (the heritage of TimeGuard).
Moreover, in this mode, the program waits for user’s activity after
locking and only after that, it starts counting the next interval.
This type is the best for those who have to go away from computer
often or work with interruptions. |
A possibility to delay a break on 5 minutes was added in case the
first message to save your data have caught you on top of inspiration
or you need to write down important information – click the “5 more
minutes” button. |
A possibility to disable the program until the next restart was
added – the “Power off” button. |
A possibility to detect user’s inactivity was added |
A possibility to make custom sound scheme was added. |
A possibility to select localization (language) and to change typical
phrases on your own was added. |
When you position the mouse pointer over the program icon on the
system tray (next to the clock) you can find out how much time left
until the next break. |
New protection methods
The program is equally effective as on the Win 98/ME platform so
on the WinNT/2000/XP platform. |
It is impossible to delete the program out of the memory using
Ctrl+Alt+Del in any stage of work. |
The keyboard and mouse locking is implemented using low-level functions
that allows the lockout of system hotkeys and effectively lock the input
in modern full screen games. |
Using the low level API allowed the program to cope more successfully
with the screen locking in the most of modern full screen games. |
New interface
The complete program management is now always available through
the icon on the Windows system tray (next to the clock). |
Major work on the appearance of the program was done. |
| |
A possibility to select the level of the program’s resistance to
closing was added. |
The bug related to “Win+M” was corrected – now it is impossible
to minimize TimeGuard during locking; that is, it expands again immediately. |
| |
A possibility to select operating mode was added (30/5, 52/10,
and 90/15). |
The program does not require installation and works from any folder
the user unpacked it into. |
Setting/deleting from startup and adjustment of modes is carried
out using the additional TimeGuardSetup program. |
The option to set custom sounds was created. |
| 2.1 |
After multiple requests, a monitoring of user’s activity after
the break is over was added. |
| 2.0 |
The concept of program work was revised
radically: now instead of reminding the user to stop, the
program forces him to take a break by locking the computer screen. |
The code and interface were totally remade according to the new
concept. |
A possibility of program auto launch together with the computer
was added. |
Program prototypes were released for the first time back in the late
summer of 1999… The mentioning of the earliest compilation under a working
title of “Pause” was found in archives dating back to August 1, 1999 at
4: 27 a.m. :) |
